The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3DS, is it worth it?

The Zelda game thet everyone’s been clamoring for since the release (and even before the release) of Ocarina of Time 3D last year, is Its sequel, Majora’s Mask, and whether or not Nintendo will be making the game at all. The point we will be discussing in this article is:

  • Is it worth it to make? If so, Why?

When reading this you might already be saying, “What? Of course it is worth it! Why would anyone NOT want Majora’s Mask to be remade on the 3DS, just like Ocarina of Time?! Are you nuts?!” Well let me explain first.

What are we looking toward soon from Nintendo? After a recent news article here on Zelda Sanctuary, we saw Nintendo say, that they were in the process of designing a new Zelda game for the WiiU, but no news for Zelda 3DS. Nintendo has not announced anything for the 3ds, aside from saying that they “might” remake Majora’s Mask, but are on to bigger projects.

Now to the point at hand, the reason it might not be worth it for Nintendo to remake Majora’s Mask, is that it could take them away from their main focus, and a new, bigger and better Zelda title. The devs at Nintendo, do not necessarily have time or employees to spare to just work on Majora’s Mask 3DS, and It might take away from the greatness of the new Zelda Game that is inevitably coming out for the 3DS.

Now don’t be too hasty now, It might be worth it after all. Nintendo could also just hand it over to another company, such a Grezzo, who ported Ocarina of time to the 3DS, or maybe Retro Studios, the company that makes Metroid, Right? Or Nintendo could just port it over themselves, after all, porting takes very little time. But we don’t just want a straight port, do we Zelda fans? We want a full-fledged remake, new 3D models, textures and all. So it might be worth it for Nintendo to do a remake, because their loyal fans would love it, and who doesn’t love their loyal fans?

So sure, Majora’s Mask 3DS sounds great to me, as long as Nintendo’s main focus is on a new Zelda game for WiiU and 3DS, and not focus on just a remake. So there are many paths that Nintendo could go down. So, the final question really is:

Is it worth it to YOU?

To be entirely honest, if the choice is between Majora’s Mask 3D and a new gamefor the 3DS, I’d pick Majora’s Mask. I’d rather the guys at Nintendo take time to add new things to Majora’s Mask for its remake than make a new game I might not even like. Fortunately, it’s not a choice between the two because a third party can handle the remake and the Zelda developers can put most of their attention on a new game, so we can get both and both is best.

Yep that’s pretty much how I feel, although I think the new 3DS Zelda I will like, because frankly, I don’t really want another Spirit tracks or Phantom Hourglass, I mean, they were ok, and they were Zelda games, but I think they could have done A LOT better…

Nintendo has more than one team of developers. One team working with the MM remake wouldn’t probably have any effect on upcoming new Zelda title. OoT 3D was developed with the help of Grezzo, which isn’t even a subcompany of Nintendo.

I NEED Mojora’s Mask 3D. Then nintendo after that make Wind Waker 3D
