How does Zelda Wii U Fit in the Timeline?

Zelda-wii-u-timeline

With the confirmed Zelda Timeline now surfaced, I’ve begun to think about the future of Zelda and how future games will fit in the timeline. The Zelda game I’m questioning right now is Zelda Wii U. We know so little of what Zelda Wii U can be aside from a demonstration of the Nintendo Wii U’s capabilities using better Twilight Princess models of Link and Armogohma. How will Zelda Wii U tie in with the rest of the Legend of Zelda series? Skyward Sword was the beginning of the series, stating information on the Triforce, the beginnings of items like the Clawshots and the Gust Bellow and even the beginnings of Ganondorf. With Skyward Sword starting the beginning, will Zelda Wii U end the Child Timeline or continue the Adult Timeline?

There are many points that Zelda Wii U can cover on the Timeline. The first I think would be an explanation of what happened between Twilight Princess and Majora’s Mask as well as the mysterious Hero’s Spirit. Would Zelda Wii U explain about the origins of the Hero’s Shade? Possibly. Could they link to Skyward Sword? Certainly, if they wished. As well, what is the Fused Shadow? Was it made by the same dark tribe that created Majora’s Mask? What could Zelda Wii U help cover in it?

If they did make Zelda Wii between Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess, I think they should cover up the mysterious Hero’s Shade and finally end any questions arising on who the character is. I, myself, think that the Hero’s Shade could be Skyward Sword Link due to the similarity of moves used between Twilight Princess Link and Skyward Sword Link, especially since they both use the Ending Blow, but that’s for another article. They should also cover more on the Dark Tribe and who they were exactly before they became the Twili. Were they related somehow to creatures and beings like Ghirahim? How does the Dark Tribe relate to the one in Four Sword Adventures?

It is quite possible the game can also take place between Four Swords and Ocarina of Time, bringing forth the beginnings of Ganondorf. Perhaps you can visit and see a younger Ganondorf? What caused the Unifying War and how long did it last? If what the timeline says is true, something must have caused Hyrule to fall into turmoil between Four Swords and Ocarina of Time which Zelda Wii U could explain. Perhaps you can change events in the game by taking place in the war?

Zelda Wii U has potential to tie more games together and better explain things and I think Nintendo should capitalize on this, rather than adding another Zelda game for the sake of making a new one. If done correctly, the timeline should be more clearer than even what was revealed now and Zelda fans can see how each of the stories were put together and explain more of the history of the Zelda Universe.

I’m very happy that we have an official timeline, and I do hope that Nintendo eventually releases a new game that details some of the missing pieces. However, I’d rather them focus on expanding one of the timeline splits and mostly ignore the rest of them at this point.

While I accept it as the truth, I’ve never really cared for the split timeline idea. I’d rather Nintendo focus on developing one solid timeline that can be the “primary story” of the Legend of Zelda series. However, I find that unlikely given that they have so recently developed games that follow different splits.

Regardless, I’d like for the next Zelda game to fit at the end of one of the timelines as the next step forward rather than being shoved into an existing gap.

It’s so cute how Zelda fans will always speculate & try to know everything about things that they literally cannot know anything about. Seriously, we won’t have even the slightest hint of what this game even is till E3 2013 at the very least.

@ JW/69: Eh… We do it for fun and relieve boredom at times. It’s just like saying real life historians do their job for no reason.
