The Golden Bug is a sidequest in Twilight Princess where Link is asked to collect twenty-four shining Golden Bugs and return them to Agatha. Each bug you turn in is worth fifty rupees and bringing in a pair gives you one-hundred rupees. Agatha will upgrade your wallet with the first Golden Bug you bring in.

Below you can found out how to collect all the Golden Bugs in Twilight Princess. They are in order by how soon you can obtain them in the game.

  1. Male Beetle – Heading from Faron Woods to Hyrule Castle, you’ll be passing through two trees if you follow only through the center of the field. It is near the hidden Piece of Heart two trees near Faron Woods. Catch with the aid of your Gale Boomerang or Clawshots.
  2. Female Beetle – On the eastern (Gamecube)/western (Wii) edge of the same area there will be an edge you cannot get to. Use the Clawshots or Gale Boomerang to bring the bug closer to you.
  3. Male Pill Bug – This bug is found in Hyrule Field just south of Kakariko Village. On the southern edge of the bridge over Kakariko Gorge it is on the ground the to left (Gamecube)/right (Wii) if you came from Faron Providence.
  4. Female Pill Bug – This bug is found just south of Kakariko Village on the north edge of Kakariko Gorge. She is found near some flowers on the east (Gamecube)/west (Wii) side of the area.
  5. Male Ant - Found in the Kakariko Graveyard in the tree near the Zora tombstone.
  6. Female Ant - Find the house in Kakariko Village with hole in the roof where you found one of the Light Tears. Fall down and the ant will be inside.
  7. Male Grasshopper – This bug is found in the vast space of Eldin Hyrule Field. It’s about in the south central part of the field.
  8. Female Grasshopper – Located on the northeastern (Wii)/northwestern (Gamecube) edge of Eldin Hyrule Field this female Grasshopper will be hopping around on the ground.
  9. Male Phasmid – Located on the Bridge of Eldin in Eldin Hyrule Field, it’s found on the arch closest to Kakariko Village. Use the Gale Boomerang or the Clawshots to bring it closer.
  10. Female Phasmid – On the northern edge of Eldin and past the Bridge of Eldin, there will be a rock formation to your right (Gamecube)/left (Wii) where you can use the Clawshots to get higher up. Use them to get up the ledge and the Golden Bug will be on the wall. You can use the Clawshots or Gale Boomerang to bring the bugs closer.
  11. Male Stag Beetle – This stag beetle is found in North Lanayru Hyrule Field on the east (Wii)/west (Gamecube) side of the river that flows from Zora’s Domain on a lone tree. Gather it with the aid of your Clawshots or Gale Boomerang.
  12. Female Stag Beetle – In the same area, head towards the mountain region where the water is coming out of. The beetle is found on the west (Gamecube)/east (Wii) side of the mountain region on the wall. Collect with the Clawshots or Gale Boomerang.
  13. Male Butterfly – Found in Hyrule Field in Lanayru near the entrance to Castle Town. It flies between the flowers close to the abandoned theater.
  14. Female Butterfly – In the same area as the Male Butterfly, the female is on an edge on the west (Gamecube)/east (Wii) side of that field. You need a clawshot in order to climb up the vines and get to the platform.
  15. Male Ladybug – Found directly south of Castle Town on the way to Faron Hyrule Field, this bug is found on the east (Gamecube)/west (Wii) side of the area near a large rock platform near where a bunch of Gauy are. This bug is found in the grass nearby.
  16. Female Ladybug – This bug is found near the fountain on the west (Gamecube)/east (Wii) side of the map flying between three trees. Since she’s mobile you need to sneak up on her and try to grab her, or use your Gale Boomerang to help.
  17. Male Mantis - Found in the Lanayru Providence part of Hyrule Field. It’s located near the pillars on the Lanayru Bridge towards Hyrule Castle.
  18. Female Mantis- Found past the Lanayru Bridge, it is on the rocky walls found along the way to the southern edge of the Lanayru Providence. It’s kind of high up, so you need to either use the Gale Boomerang or the Clawshots to get it close enough to catch.
  19. Male Dragonfly – Found in Zora’s Domain, it is found on the west (Wii)/east (Gamecube) side of the domain near where you can fish for Reekfish. Go up the hill and you’ll notice the bug flying around.
  20. Female Dragonfly – Found in Upper Zora’s River she is flying above the water near the River Rapids Ride. Collect her with the Gale Boomerang!
  21. Male Snail – When going to the Sacred Grove as a human, follow and beat the Skull Kid to get back to the area where the Master Sword once rested. Push the block down and it will give you an spot where you can return to where you were. On the same level as where the Triforce mark is, there’s a hole in the wall on the southern side of the area which is either on the east side in the Gamecube version or the west side in the Wii version. In that hole is a broken and open Treasure Chest, but above you near the holes entrance is the snail. Collect him with the Clawshots.
  22. Male Dayfly – Located in the southern edge of Gerudo Desert near a blocked wall this bug will be fluttering in the desert sand. It’s suggested to wait till nightfall to see the bug better.
  23. Female Dayfly – Located in the southeast (Wii)/southwest (Gamecube) edge of Gerudo Desert and north of a chest located on top of a ledge this female Dayfly will be fluttering in some trenches in the sand.
  24. Female snail – Now when you put the Master Sword back into the Pedestal of Time for a short second, it activates the portal back to the past. Use it to go back to the past. Near where the hole of where you found the male snail, the female will be climbing on the wall next to the stairs. Collect her with the Clawshots.

By collecting all of the Golden Bugs, you are able to gain upwards to 600 rupees at a time with your new wallet, so be sure to spend it on the repairs to the bridge to Castle Town at Malo Mart, pay for Malo Mart to be established in Hyrule Castle Town, buy the Magic Armor, and spend it on other things to collect items and Pieces of Heart.
