The Twilight

The Ordon providence was a peaceful farm country south of Hyrule. It hardly knew anything about the world outside of Faron Woods or what was happening to it.

Two Ordanians, Rusl and Link, were returning back from the forest, collecting firewood for their village of village. Resting at Faron Wood's spring, Rusl tells Link that at the time of dusk they were the closes to their world. He asks Link for a favor, to bring a sword to Hyrule Castle as a tribute. Over the course of three days, Link had to do a variety of tasks for his fellow villagers before he set off for to Hyrule Castle.

On the second day, Link receives a Wooden Sword from Rusl and purchases a Slingshot from Sera's shop. After learning how to use it, Link's friends, the children of Ordon rush into the forest chasing a monkey. Navigating through the monster infested woods, Link was able to rescue Talo who was captured with the Monkey. Talo apologizes for what had happened and explains to Link that the monkeys weren't really as bad as he thought before he ran back to the village. Rusl appears soon after, telling Link he had heard of the kids running into the forest, and was happy to know that Link had saved them, then asks Link if he is ready to finally meet Princess Zelda, the ruler of Hyrule.

On the third day, Link is once again at Ordon Ranch, tending to Fado's goats. After successfully herding all the goats into the stall, Link leaves the ranch. Ilia a childhood friend of Link's runs up to him and talks to him for a few moments while he gets off his horse and talks to Mayor Bo about his trip to Hyrule. Ilia then snaps at Link after she notices that his horse, Epona was injured.

Ilia had taken Epona to the spring to nurse her back to health, blocking the route into the spring. Colin, another one of the village children, had instructed Link to climb through a hole nearby to get into the spring while he talked to Ilia and explains what happened the day before. By the time Link had arrived, Ilia had calmed down and told Link to be careful on his way to Hyrule Castle and to also take good care of Epona.

Before they could say their final good-byes, the sound of thunderous hooves echoed in the forest. The gates busted open as a group of Bulbins rushed forth into the spring. They attacked and stunned Ilia and Colin while knocking Link unconscious. The leader of the Bulbins, King Bulbin, stepped forth into the spring and blew on his horn and a portal opened above the spring. The Bulbins then take Ilia and Colin towards Faron Woods where Link rushes to their rescue, only to come face to face with a large magical barrier. Suddenly a hand erupted from the barrier and pulls Link into the now shrouded forest.

Link found himself in front of a large strange beast which had a firm grip on his body. Struggling to break free, a hidden power within Link had awoke and pushed the beast back. The power that had awoken began to cause Link pain and he yelled out before his body quickly transformed into that of a wolf. The strange beast then drags him further into the Twilight Realm.

The Fused Shadows

Link manages to wake up and find himself within a dungeon cell and finds out that he was turned into a wolf. After trying to bust out of his cell, he runs into a strange imp-like creature who calls herself Midna. This imp tells Link she will assist him in returning to his former form as well as makes him help her find special artifacts.

After running through the sewers and learning how to use his wolf form, Link up a spiraling staircase to the top of a tower. It is there that he mets Princess Zelda whom Midna mockingly calls her the "Twilight Princess".

Princess Zelda describes how Hyrule is now covered in a blanket of twilight where creatures that shun the light now roam free. While the people who dwell in the light had physical forms, they are mere spirits in the twilight. The King of Twilight had attacked Hyrule Castle and now rules all of Hyrule and Zelda is held captive in the tower.

Zelda tells Link to run before the guard comes and Link and Midna head outside the Tower. Midna mocks Link and turns into Colin and Ilia for a moment to remind him that he still has some people to still save from the power of the twilight. After which, she warps Link to Ordon Spring and tells Link that she requires a sword and shield before they tackle the twilight.

Returning to Ordon, they realize that the townsfolk are all in panic after the recent attack. Rusl is injured but he still pushes on to try to save the village children. Wolf Link manages to gain information on where to get the shield by listening onto Mayor Bo and Jaggle and then jumps onto the roof of Sera's Sundries to scare Hanch. Jumping onto the waterwheel, Link enters Jaggle's house and gets the shield and jumps out the window, splashing into the lake and alerting Rusl who thinks the children returned. Link then runs along the small stream next to Rusl's house and enters through a spot in the ground where he could dig from. He enters through a broken part of the flooring and picks up the sword on the couch.

Rushing back towards Faron Woods, a voice calls him back into Ordon Spring when a set of rocks fall from the sky and form a force field. A Twilit Beast appears to attack Link and Link fends him off. The voice of the spring appears when the spring begins to light up in a golden light and Link comes face-to-face with the Light Spirit, Ordana. Ordana speaks of an evil plaguing the land of Hyrule and tells Link to go to Faron Woods in order to revive the Light Spirit there that lost its light in order to return to his true form.

Once Link returns to Faron Woods, he notices that Midna had covered her face with the Wood Shield as she wildly swings her sword. She then discards the weapons, finding them to be useless tools to fight with but then stores them with her magic for Link to use when he returned to a human. Link then comes face to face with more Twilit Beasts, but cannot fend them off as the third one would revive the two fallen ones. With the assistance of Midna, Link was able to stun all three beasts and attack them in rapid succession, defeating them.

The Light Spirit of the forest, Faron, had told Link that he lost his light to them same Twilit Beasts and the Light Tears were now scattered among the Shadow Insects hidden in the forest. Faron then gives Link the Vessel of Light in order to collect and hold the Light Tears he has collected. Dispatching the insects and reclaiming all the tears, Link is transported back to Faron Spring where he comes to face to face with the true form of Faron which resembles that of a lemur.

Faron speaks about how the Light Spirits all lost their powers to the beings of the Twilight Realm and then mentions to Link to look at his awakened form. Link realizes that his old Ordon clothing is gone and replaced by a green tunic and Faron mentions that Link is the chosen hero of the gods and mentions that a dark power laid deep within the Forest Temple which is needed to defeat the King of Twilight.

The Forest Temple was taken over by various monsters such as Bokoblins and Skulltulas. Monkeys used to roam freely in the forest and within the temple as well before their boss, Ook, was taken over by a brainwashing bug. Once defeated, Ook runs from Link and Link gains the Gale Boomerang as a reward. Travelling through the rest of the temple, Link manages to rescue all the monkeys and comes face with Twilit Parasite: Diababa and defeats him with the assistance of Ook. Once Diababas body dries out, it explodes and turns into a Fused Shadow which Midna snatches and says it was one of three things she needed.

Link travels out of the safety of Faron Woods and heads for the mountainous region of Eldin Providence where another Light Spirit had lost its light. There, Link speaks with the Light Spirit, Eldin and is given another Vessal of Light to collect the Light Tears. Link had fallen through the roof of Renado's home and realizes that most of the children of Ordon Village were there with him. Colin was the only one of the children who believed that Link would save them and kept trying to keep the children's optimism high.

After returning the light back to Ordon, Link comes face to face with the children of Ordon who all hug him and welcome him. Link doesn't stay for long as he is instructed to climb Death Mountain home of the Gorons in order to collect another Fused Shadow.
